UMG has announced that Lucian Grainge will be the next head honcho of the business, taking over from current CEO Doug Morris. Grainge takes over in July moving into swank digs in NYC.
So who all is getting let go as a result of this?
Word on the street is that Grainge is no fan of Mr. Reid
And there have been rumors of the impending label consolidation of Def Jam and Uni Motown, and Island and Uni Republic. I imagine IGA will be fine.
Assuming all holds well, three labels should come out instead of the clusterfuck that exists. Maybe eventually one or two.
Also rumor has it that more IT people were cut from UMG this past week.

No matter anyone's view of the circumstances involved, this is an excellent hire for IDJ & Universal. Quality human. Possesses a clear understanding of commerce, business opportunities & revenue generation.

This guy understands the balance between art and commerce. He's a good leader and a musician with a vision. He has an understanding of people, music and technology that is a solid match for this gig. And isn't it easy to find quirky pics of any or us from the 80's?
